🗒️About

Join us to support the Global Community Emergency Fund

At UC Davis, we believe in the incredible value that each member of our global community brings. Sadly, many of our international students and scholars are facing immense hardships due to natural and human-made disasters around the world. In response, Global Affairs has launched the UC Davis Global Community Emergency Fund.

With recent cuts to federal research funding, community support is more critical than ever. Many of our most vulnerable scholars are at risk of losing the opportunity to continue their education and research- opportunities that benefit not only UC Davis but the global society at large.

Your donation will provide critical, immediate support to UC Davis students, scholars, and their families, helping cover essential needs like housing, transportation, utilities, and educational expenses. Many of our global community members are reeling from devastating crises that have displaced lives and disrupted futures.

With a dedicated team—including School of Law Associate Dean Beth Greenwood, Vice Provost and Dean Joanna Regulska, Associate Vice Provost Michael Lazzara, and Senior Immigration Advisor Kim Haky—we’ve already begun distributing funds and leveraging matching opportunities to maximize your impact. In 2025, the committee awarded $7,250 in support of 13 undergraduate / graduate students, helping to provide stability, resources and care to ensure they can continue their studies and move forward both personally and academically.

Your gift of $5 or more will do more than offer immediate relief. It will empower those in need to continue their education, contributing to the next generation of knowledge, innovation, and solutions. By supporting UC Davis’ global community, you're helping these individuals rebuild their lives and futures.

This October, we aim to raise $5,000 through Crowdfund UC Davis to continue supporting our global community. Your donation will make a tangible difference and help prepare us for future crises.

Thank you for showing that our global community is one that cares, shares, and supports each other.

We encourage you to join us in helping the UC Davis global community at large by making a gift to the Global Community Emergency Fund!

Thank you for helping take care of our global community!

Help Us Reach Our Goal – Support Our Global Community!

Each year, UC Davis welcomes over 9,000 international students and scholars each year, fostering invaluable collaboration among the campus, the larger Davis community, and future global leaders.

One powerful story is that of Dr. Ahmad Aalemi, a former physician and professor from Afghanistan. When the Taliban seized Kabul in 2021, Dr. Aalemi was forced to flee, leaving behind his home and career. Thanks to the UC Davis Threatened Scholars Program, he found refuge and purpose here, contributing to research, teaching, and mentorship in the Department of Dermatology, continuing his dream of advancing medicine in the U.S. His journey is a testament to resilience, hope, and the life-changing role of community support.

With recent cuts to federal research funding, community support is more critical than ever.

Your gift of $5 or more can provide immediate relief for scholars and students facing crises giving them the chance to rebuild their lives and continue contributing to their fields.

Join us in helping the UC Davis global community by large by making a gift to the Global Community Emergency Fund!
