Who says Chemistry has to be strictly about science? We hope to share what we love about chemistry through a different lens - The Creative Arts!
We are thrilled to announce that the new addition to the Chemistry Building will be completed this Fall, introducing the Department’s first welcoming public space for staff, students, faculty, and the broader community. In an innovative cross-department collaboration, the Chemistry Department has partnered with the Art Department to transform this area into a rotating gallery showcasing faculty-created artworks. The generous $5,000 funding will cover artists' fees and installation costs, ensuring a vibrant and dynamic display.
Your support will help create a comfortable and serene environment for everyone who enters the new public space. We envision the art gallery as a sanctuary where individuals can take a moment to relax and enjoy a break from their busy schedules. In addition, we hope that viewers will walk away with a thought that ignites a creative spark leading to their next discovery.
This year's exhibition features three chemistry-themed pieces, including an impressively large fullerene-eques sculpture suspended in the atrium. Your gift will bring this artistic vision to life, enriching the daily experience of our Chemistry and Letters & Science communities and fostering a harmonious blend of science and art.
