The well-being of our children is essential to the future of our society. At the Werklund School of Education, we understand the pivotal role education can play in nurturing not just the minds of young learners but their mental health as well.
With emerging challenges such as cyberbullying, increased screen time, and the pressures of social media, todayβs young minds face unique hurdles. The Centre for Wellbeing in Education offers an upstream solution—empowering educators to make a positive, lasting impact on their studentsβ well-being.
The Center will build and scale mental health literacy in teachers, student support services, counsellors, specialist staff, and families so that they have the ability to recognize early signs of distress in children and youth and provide strategies to support the psychological assessments for sustained mental health improvement.
Ultimately, this allows us to intervene before mental health concerns like depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation and self-harm begin. This means more children in classrooms, and less children in emergency rooms.
Together, we can create a ripple effect of change. Your generosity will not only support the Centreβs transformative work but will also play a crucial role in shaping a brighter, healthier future for generations to come.
