This scholarship honours the many contributions and legacy of Dr. David Este to the profession of social work and reflects his desire to support diversity and equity in the profession.

The award is offered to thesis-based, graduate applicants who self-identify as persons of Black/African descent.
If the total amount received from all donors does not reach the endowment goal of $25,000.00 by January 31, 2026, the funds will be used to fund the award on an annual basis until the funds are completely depleted. Please note the University shall not be required to return any portion of the gifts already paid.
