Dr. Susan K. Spezzini Endowed Scholarship

The UAB School of Education and Human Sciences is raising support for the Dr. Susan K. Spezzini Endowed Scholarship for English as a Second Language Education to provide support for dedicated Master of Arts in ESL students to overcome potential financial difficulties. This scholarship will honor the career of Dr. Susan Spezzini, recognizing her impactful contributions to the ESL education program and the multilingual community in the Southeast. The scholarship will specifically focus on assisting students who are the first in their families to pursue a college degree and those who are navigating significant financial, economic, or educational challenges—individuals whose perseverance and commitment to their dreams reflect the spirit of compassion and inclusivity that Dr. Spezzini championed throughout her career. Dr. Spezzini made the first gift to this scholarship fund but a minimum of $25,000 is needed to formally establish the scholarship.
