Neuroscience For All makes brain science accessible year-round through hands-on learning and community connection. With programs like Brain Awareness Week, Brain Snacks, Brain Chats, and Brain Bites, we’re bringing neuroscience to classrooms, libraries, and everyday conversations—helping people of all ages understand how the brain works and why it matters.
Your support will expand these programs, provide materials for interactive learning, and create more opportunities for Birmingham residents to engage directly with UAB neuroscientists. Together, we can inspire curiosity, advance understanding, and spark the next generation of scientific discovery.
Brain Awareness Week is a global campaign dedicated to inspiring curiosity and support for brain science. Building on a 16-year collaboration with McWane Science Center, we bring neuroscience to life during Spring Break Week through engaging events and hands-on activities that reveal the wonders of the brain and its impact on everyday life.
Brain Snacks are short and sweet ways to engage the public in learning about the brain through fun, hands-on demonstrations and interactive activities. We bring these bite-sized lessons to community events across the area, starting with our popular “Five Senses” demos from Brain Awareness Week, and are building a year-round calendar of outreach opportunities to share the excitement of neuroscience with everyone.
Brain Bites brings together UAB neuroscientists and outreach enthusiasts each semester to collaborate on making neuroscience accessible for everyone. Each session kicks off with a fast, fascinating 15-minute talk on public science outreach—followed by cookies, tea, and lively conversations about upcoming projects and ways to engage our community in learning about the brain.
Brain Chats are informal, one-hour conversations held every Saturday at 11 a.m. at Avondale Library, where UAB neuroscientists share insights on fascinating brain-related topics. Each session features a short talk followed by open discussion—recent chats have explored Alzheimer’s disease, how pollution affects brain health, and the power of art therapy.
