To honor Dr. Allen’s remarkable example of service-leadership and enduring contributions to the School of Public Health and the greater Birmingham community, the SOPH is working to establish the Dr. Shauntice Allen Endowed Fund for Environmental Justice. This fund will carry on Dr. Allen’s life’s work in perpetuity by supporting students, staff, and early career faculty who are focused on environmental justice, community empowerment, and peace.
With an anchor gift from Drs. Paul Erwin and Renee Hyatt; Max Michael, M.D.; Dr. and Mrs. Mark and Marian Wilson; and Dr. and Mrs. Jeff and Jennifer Wickliffe, we are now much closer to reaching our minimum $100,000 goal for the fund. With the support of community partners like you, we can not only meet that goal, but also get closer to our ultimate objective: creating an endowed professorship in Dr. Allen’s memory.
In this vital effort to establish a living legacy worthy of Dr. Allen’s impact, every gift counts. You can make a gift (or pledge over a period of up to five years) of $100, $500, $1,000, $5,000, or whatever amount is meaningful to you. Please consider a gift today to honor a pillar of our community, gone much too soon.
