Support transplant research!
Ronnie and I are grateful to be able to support Tar Heal Tuesday, UNC Health’s Day of Giving. This year, we are supporting life-changing research in transplants in honor of our friends Bill and Shields Reh. Some of you may have seen Bill and Shields’ story (see below) on CBS WNCN 17, where Bill was a meteorologist for many years. Bill was diagnosed with a genetic kidney disease that required a transplant. His wife Shields, who I went to Carolina with, was able to donate a kidney to him thanks to advances in transplant treatments.
Shields and Bill are recovering after a successful transplant and are sharing their story to help raise awareness of live donor donations. Our Tar Heal Tuesday goal is to raise $10,000 for transplant research. There is much more to be learned and more treatment options to be tested, especially in the area of live donor donations.
We plan to match all donations 1:1 up to our Tar Heal Tuesday Goal, and we would be honored if you would join us.
Thank you,
Ronnie and Karen
