About

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) unites multiple areas of study that connect our understanding and experience of being human within the tenets of historic Christianity. Students are introduced to theological, philosophical, historical, geographical, environmental, literary, linguistic, psychological, and sociological views of what it means to be human and how to engage the world. Our 20 undergraduate and two graduate programs are student-focused, with faculty who are passionate about equipping students “to think truthfully, act justly, and live faithfully for the good of the world and the glory of God.” Our graduates live out their vocational calling by working for governmental agencies, human services, faith-based organizations, local congregations, educational organizations, human resources, and graduate programs.

FHSS aspires to advance Christ-centred learning as a priority of Trinity Western University’s whole-person educational approach. When you give to FHSS on Giving Day 2025, you are supporting these exciting initiatives:

  • Purchasing cutting-edge eye-tracking technology for the Psychology program to support student skill development and research in human attention and cognitive processing.
  • Purchasing a LI-COR LI-7810 Trace Gas Analyzer, an essential tool in the pursuit of environmental sustainability. It delivers accurate, real-time measurements of crucial gases like carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), and water vapour (H₂O), enabling faculty and students in Geography and Environmental Studies to monitor the environment's health effectively.
  • Purchasing a large format poster-plotter to print posters for faculty and student use at high quality, peer-reviewed conferences.

If you would like to donate in a different way or are having technical difficulties, please email giving@twu.ca or contact June Schaffrick at 604.513.2121 (ext. 3313).
