The Friends of Diana Reaves English Fund, in memory of our former student Diana Reaves, would be used to enable students to attend and participate in activities (such as conferences, workshops, performances, and other events) that would allow them to grow as scholars and writers.
Diana Renee Reaves (1986-2022) was a beloved graduate and friend of the Trevecca English department and a gifted young poet. An excellent citizen of both the literature seminar and the writers’ workshop, Diana showed herself on innumerable occasions to be a compassionate and thoughtful artist and scholar. A writer fully at ease with the language of the image, Diana wrote poems that startled the reader into a deeper comprehension. Deeply involved with the rhythms of the American South, she eschewed sentimentality without neglecting her subjects’ emotional core. Her skill as a writer led her not only to success at TNU but to the University of Arkansas, where she received a full scholarship in the highly competitive Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing.
Diana will be remembered as a brilliant student, a wonderful writer, and an example of Christian joy to all who knew her. The “Friends of Diana Reaves” fund will help future Trevecca English students reach their own heights, thus following her lead.
