At Mannes Prep, the Preparatory Division of Mannes College of Music, young musicians come together each week to learn, create, collaborate, and perform at the highest level. Our students engage weekly in core classes of music theory, ear training, small and large ensembles, and private instruction. Many of our students also pursue elective studies through our composition and chamber music departments, and all of our students are offered varied performance opportunities throughout the academic year.

Giving Day is an opportunity to invest directly in the experiences that shape our students into thoughtful, expressive, and community-minded artists.

Your support strengthens core instruction and expands the opportunities that make a Mannes Prep education extraordinary, including:

• The Masterclass Series connects students with distinguished guest artists and Mannes College faculty. These audition-based opportunities challenge our young musicians to meet professional standards and offer inspiration that often shapes their artistic path for years to come.
• Concerto Competitions provide pre-senior and senior division students with the opportunity to prepare and perform major concerto repertoire and receive feedback from guest judges. Winners perform as soloists with our Chamber and Philharmonic orchestras each May and December.
• Outreach Concerts bring our students into community centers, hospitals, and retirement facilities across New York City. These concerts connect our students with their local community and provide them with training in public speaking and performing for diverse audiences.
• Composer Concerts give student composers the opportunity to hear their original works performed by professional musicians. Through collaboration with chamber ensembles, faculty, and Mannes College performers, students experience the rehearsal and performance process. In our Composer-Performer class, students also create original works in response to visual art and present them in museums and galleries, situating their music within a broader artistic dialogue.

Gifts made on Giving Day help fund guest artists, professional ensemble collaborations, venue partnerships, community outreach, scholarships, and the countless details that make these experiences possible.
