The John Carroll School is the recipient of a $1 million dollar-for-dollar match from the Rollins-Luetkemeyer (R-L) Foundation to complete the renovations of our Science Wing and John Buppert Science Labs. This generous commitment will shape the future of Science at John Carroll and allows us to reimagine our spaces as real-world, hands-on learning environments — spaces designed to inspire our students to discover, develop and share their God-given talents for the greater good.
The funds generated through this matching initiative will directly support the:
- complete renovation of the two remaining John Buppert Science Labs, designed to mirror the standards of world-class institutions and with expert guidance from John Carroll alumni Dr. Jim Kaper '70 (Chair, Department of Microbiology & Immunology at UMMC) and Dr. Barbara Slusher ’82 (Professor of Neurology, Pharmacology and Molecular Sciences, Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Medicine and Oncology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Director of Johns Hopkins Drug Discovery);
- installation of upgraded safety fixtures, including eyewash stations, safety showers, goggle cabinets, fire extinguishers and gas sensors;
- expansion of the Robotics arena;
- improved space and safety for the chemical storage area;
- addition of flexible furnishings adaptable for lab work, research and classroom instruction; and
- increased space for individual and group research projects.
This transformative gift reflects more than just financial support — it’s a belief in The John Carroll School’s mission, students and educators. It enables us to deliver a high-caliber education for our students and empowers our educators to do what they do best, in spaces that match their vision and ambition.
This dollar-for-dollar match is happening now through December 1, 2027, or until the $1 million is met. You, along with the R-L Foundation, are helping to shape the next generation of Patriots — our future leaders and innovators. We are deeply grateful to the R-L Foundation and all who believe in the lasting impact of a John Carroll education.
