Welcome to John Moffet Elementary's STEAM Theme Campaign!
The goal of our campaign is to provide our students with resources for STEAM workspaces. STEAM lessons provide numerous benefits such as; hands-on learning of the natural world, increase of student morale, support of emotional needs, and behavioral and intellectual development. Moffet has great support from the community around us. Through various small grants and initiatives we have opened a Makerspace, Media Hub, updated or Library (including an Innovation Lab and Video Game/e-Sports room).
However we do not have the proper work area resources. Students have to work on old desks and tables that carry years of wear and tear. Students also lack storage for their STEAM supplies and ongoing projects. Supporting our campaign will give Moffet students updated STEAM workspaces and storage spaces. The STEAM workspaces will benefit all of our K-5 learners including those with special needs.
Studies have shown that students who learn via STEAM develop: a sense of self, independence, confidence, creativity, decision-making and problem-solving skills, empathy towards others, motor skills, self-discipline, and initiative.
Learning via STEAM is also just fun. STEAM lessons provide a change of pace from traditional lessons, which excites students' passion for learning.
