We did it!!! Thanks to your overwhelming, humbling support, we are going to nationals!!! We met our $33,000 goal and then some. And you know what - we're going to keep going!!! We've raised the minimum that we needed for travel, lodging, and registration. But do you know how much music for our competition costs? Or that we have more team members than pom poms? Or that some kids come to practice carrying their gear in trash bags, because that's all they have? Any extra dollars we raise, thanks to your amazing generosity, will go toward funding our competition music, providing travel bags for kids who need them, purchasing additional pom poms, and providing other vital team equipment.

On behalf of all the hard working, dedicated student-athletes who will now have a chance to show the world what Philadelphia public school kids can do, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

The George Washington High School Competitive Spirit Team is a diverse group of talented students aged 14-18 years old from all across the city of Philadelphia. Our team is the three-time reigning Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District XII Public League Champions in the Co-Ed Division (2020-2022); four-time Competitive Spirit State Qualifiers (2019-2022); and this year, we were PIAA State Semi-Finalists in the Co-Ed Division (2022). Our team is ready to take it to the next level and attend the Varsity National NCA Competition in Dallas, Texas!

Our dedicated Spirit Team members practice two-to-three hours a day, five days a week working on skills, drills, dance, and stunting. Through repetitive practice and team building activities, we have seen first-hand the positive effects training has had on our students' lives. These athletes bring positive energy within the school and community, and set a true example for school spirit, joy, and enthusiasm all around. Further, our students have to be academically eligible to participate in the Spirit Team...and we've witnessed their drive to compete improve their school performance as well.

Our team is working extremely hard to be able to travel to this competition. But, the cost to participate in the season and attend this competition is more than $1,200.00 per participant. This is not feasible for so many of our children and their families.

Your contributions will help offset travel costs, lodging, gym rentals, and gear for our team. Your support will help give our student-athletes the opportunity of a lifetime!

If we make it to Dallas, we will be the first team in the Philadelphia Public League to compete at a national level, and we will set the groundwork for future teams to follow. We are all SO proud of the Spirit Team's accomplishments, and with your financial support, we will help these students "fly" to Dallas!

*If we do not meet our fundraising goal, we will use these funds to support this or another vital need at our school!

Philly FUNDamentals
Thank you for your support!

Even though we are still short of our fundraising goal, I wanted to THANK EVERYONE SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT!

This weekend, the team is in Cheer Camp - paid for by donations like the ones you've made. We've told the team that they have worked so hard to qualify for nationals and all of that hard work will be worth it one day. Well, that day seems to be coming soon, and I can't thank you all enough for your support and help in getting this team to Dallas. We still have a lot of work to do, but I wanted to take a minute and thank all of you!

We hope to make you all proud!  If for any reason, you would like to email me please feel free to do so:
