Derryfield’s Day of Giving is a special day where we ask the entire Derryfield community to connect, engage and give back to the amazing school and community we love so much! This year, as we celebrate our Day of Giving, much of the Derryfield Campus will be giving back to the community by volunteering and performing acts of service! While our students, faculty and staff give back to the community, we ask our incredible DS community of students, parents, families, alumni & friends to consider giving back to Derryfield!
Money raised from our Day of Giving campaign goes directly to supporting our Derryfield Fund. As many of you may know, this fund is key to providing crucial funding to the school. The Derryfield Fund helps cover the financial difference between tuition and the true cost of the Derryfield experience. Funds raised go towards supporting our teachers with their professional development, keeping our campus facilities & technology updated, inviting and functional, supplies our athletes and performing arts students with everything they need for the field & the stage, supports financial aid to students who may require financial assistance, and so much more!
This year, we have set a goal of reaching 375 donors AND we are excited to announce that if we hit our goal, we will unlock a $20,000 match!! Every single gift, no matter the size, helps make an impact. Please consider making your gift today!
Good afternoon, Derryfield!
I am proud to write and share that Derryfield’s Day of Giving was a huge success! Every constituency - current families, alumni and alumni families, faculty and staff, grandparents, and special friends - stepped up to give a gift of support for Derryfield teachers and students. We are thrilled to share that we surpassed our goal of 375 donors and raised $128,519! Every dollar raised during Day of Giving goes directly toward The Derryfield Fund, which is critical to supporting our students, faculty, and staff who live out the mission of Derryfield every day.
I am incredibly proud to lead a community that consistently steps up to support the mission and vision of Derryfield. The Day of Giving serves as yet another shining example of that spirit with current parents, alumni, and faculty/staff leading the way with contributions to yesterday’s campaign. I am humbled by the outpouring of support.
If you did not have the chance to make a gift yesterday and would still like to contribute towards this year’s Day of Giving, the campaign page will be open through midnight tonight. We are 23 donors away from reaching our goal of 125 alumni donors. Once we reach that goal, we will unlock a $5,500 donation from Ellie Cochran ‘69 and her husband Dave. Any alumni who make a gift today will count towards that goal!
Many thanks again for your generosity and support, Derryfield!
Warmly,
Andy Chappell, P’24 Head of School

To help us cross the finish line, we are excited to announce an additional $10,000 match will be unlocked if we can reach our goal of 375 donors. That is a total of an additional $30,000 when we reach 375 donors for the Day of Giving!
We are almost there! We are so thankful for the outstanding support we have already seen through today’s Day of Giving!
We are so close, and you can make a gift of any size to help us get there!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far. As we head into the afternoon on this year’s Day of Giving, we want to highlight some members of our alumni community who, because of their time at Derryfield, have continued to create positive change and serve as leaders in their respective professions and communities.
Hailey Moll '14 used her Derryfield education to set her up for success as she continued on to college, graduate school and beyond. After Derryfield she attended the University of Vermont, where she studied Zoology and Environmental Studies. In 2022 she advocated for a bill that would reduce emissions from Boston’s buildings which passed unanimously. Hailey recently graduated from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs with a graduate degree in Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy and is currently working as a Senior Associate of Educational Resources at the Building Energy Exchange (BE-Ex). BE-Ex is the first in a growing network of building decarbonization hubs around the world, connecting New York City’s real estate and design communities to energy and lighting efficiency solutions through education, exhibitions, technology demonstrations, and research. Derryfield was such a high-quality education. It advanced me years ahead of my peers. My writing and critical thinking skills were bolstered before I even got to college. Derryfield allowed me to be proud of my inner voice and to be proud of who I am. It gave me a safe space to take risks and teachers who nurtured me and supported me no matter what.” -Hailey Moll '14 |
Victor Jialang Li '17 is inspired to make the world a better place. After graduating from Derryfield, he went on to study Robotics Engineering at the University of Santa Cruz. There he found himself switching to the Intensive Research Psychology major with focus on UX (User Experience). The UX field is the study of learning what end-users of a system or product need and want, then employing those insights to enhance the design process for businesses, products, services or software. Following his graduation in 2021 he was accepted into the Human Computer Interaction Master’s Program at the University of Santa Cruz. He graduated with his Master’s degree in 2022 and began work for a company called Zoox as a UX Researcher. Zoox is an independent subsidiary of Amazon which creates self-driving cars and are on a mission to revolutionize mobility. “Derryfield taught me perseverance and adaptability. Which have positively impacted me in my future endeavors. I even think that those two particular skills are the key to life.” -Victor Jialang Li '17 |

960 days ago by Caitlin MartinezGood morning Derryfield community!
The official kick off to the Day of Giving has officially arrived! We are excited to announce that we begin this day having already secured $29,394 from 90 Early Bird donors. We are so grateful!
As we head into the next 24 hours, we ask you to support our incredible students who are working hard, becoming leaders in the community, and growing up before us all. Here are just a few examples of what our current students have accomplished recently:
- Four members of the Class of 2024—Jake Matarese, Quinn McGinley, Elaine Zhan, and Sebastian Parra—have been recognized as Commended Students for the 2024 National Merit Scholarship program, and classmate Prayag Patel has qualified as a Semifinalist in this year's competition.
- Our GIVE Club continued their special relationship with Special Olympics New Hampshire by volunteering to assist athletes at the State Track & Field Meet at the University of New Hampshire.
- Sophomore Elise Cataldo ʼ26 traveled to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC to represent New Hampshire as part of the Children’s Congress for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
- The Middle School Boys Cross Country team took home third place at the Division 4 State Championships this Fall.
- A group of upper school students partnered with the One Love Foundation to lead a wellness activity for students centered on education about healthy and unhealthy relationships. The student ambassadors presented to the Upper School and then led small group discussions.
This is just a small glimpse into life here at Derryfield and all that our students accomplish each and every day. We strive to ensure that our students have the skills and experiences needed to thrive within their communities and become active leaders in a changing world beyond Derryfield.
Help us continue to provide the experiences and resources that allow these students to grow and challenge themselves in our Derryfield community and beyond. We are making our way towards our goal of 375 donors-help us get there by making your gift today!
