At BYU Law, Julie Khouri came to see justice differently. “It’s not only about legality,” she says. “It’s about mercy, compassion, and righteousness.”
For Khouri, that education was only possible because of donor support. Growing up in Ramallah, Palestine, she experienced firsthand how instability can shape everyday life and opportunity. When both of her parents lost their jobs after their work permits were revoked, pursuing a legal education in the United States would have been financially out of reach.
“Financial aid wasn’t just support,” Khouri says. “It was a lifeline.”
Because of that generosity, Khouri was able to complete her LLM degree at BYU Law, deepen her understanding of justice, and prepare to use her legal education to advocate for human rights, religious freedom, and the dignity of people living in conflict.
