This year’s Middle School Legacy supports Studio Thayer, a new curricular and teaching initiative that each of your children will have the opportunity to participate in. Students will be at the forefront of helping us to explore programmatic innovation and experimentation that reflect student interest in the areas of digital media, audio and video production and technical theatre.
Impact for Thayer
- Installation of a news set in the existing Digital Media Lab, with an enhanced green screen, camera system, and studio lighting.
- New electives in technical theatre, film creation, and 8th Grade IDEA courses like Industrial Design and Music Production.
- Supports skill building in production, editing, and on-camera presence.
- This pilot is shaping how Thayer will integrate digital learning in years to come as we gauge interest in digital media, audio and video production and technical theatre.
- These initiatives represent both a legacy and a launchpad, helping define what and how we teach moving forward at Thayer.
Since its inception, the Middle School Legacy program has raised over $1 million and contributed to projects such as the renovation of Thompson Hall, construction of the Collaborative Design Lab, the renovation of three science labs, and the installation of the Middle School playground.
