Texas Tech Athletics’ STRIVE program was created in 2022 to reward academic distinction for student-athletes each semester. STRIVE is fully funded by the generosity of alumni and friends through the Red Raider Club.
A 2021 U.S. Supreme Court ruling permitted schools to provide academic achievement awards to qualifying student-athletes. For Red Raiders and Lady Raiders, they may earn up to $2,990 per semester for their academic achievement based on several factors: their GPA, if they are on track to graduate on schedule, if they remain a member in good standing of their sport program at the end of the semester and their involvement in student-athlete leadership programming.
In its first year, 285 student-athletes earned more than $750,000. This year, Texas Tech Athletics estimates that this additional investment will cost up to $1.8 million, and we need your help!
The STRIVE program enhances the first-class experience for our student-athletes who represent us on and off the field. Your support for the STRIVE program helps fund the necessary resources for Texas Tech student-athletes to compete at the highest level, both in the classroom and in competition.
Donations to the Red Raider Club Excellence Fund for the STRIVE program during Texas Tech Day of Giving also count towards Red Raider Club membership and benefits.
