WCOE K-12 STEM Outreach
We believe that all K-12 students deserve high-quality and hands-on experiences exploring the excitement of engineering and opening the door to incredible careers in this field. Guided by the leadership of our STEM Program Director Heather Sherrill, the Edward E. Whitacre College of Engineering hosts a multitude of events for all K-12 students in the Lubbock area to get excited about STEM at Texas Tech University!
Professors, clubs and Outreach Raiders in our college have partnered to offer a variety of opportunities for both students and educators to engage in engineering, including:
- Field trips to campus and after-school programs for students to participate in guided engineering projects tailored to their grade level
- Development programs for K-12 educators on how to implement exciting engineering projects in their own classrooms
- Year-round and seasonal robotics programs, camps and competitions such as Get Excited About Robotics (GEAR), First Tech Challenge, Air Battles, Vex U and Raider Robotics U
We strive to provide these community-based programs at little to no cost to participating students, and we could not do that without the generosity of our donors. Funds raised for K-12 STEM Outreach support the longevity of these programs through purchasing necessary materials, supporting travel costs for student groups and helping us keep our consumer costs as low as possible.
By supporting on Day of Giving, you are impacting the lives of K-12 students and the incredible opportunities for them in STEM!
