KEY Financial Coaches: Accredited Financial Counselor Fund

Knowledge Empowering You (KEY) is a student organization consisting of 30 dedicated undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students striving to enhance financial education within the Lubbock community through free group classes and one-on-one coaching sessions.

Led by KEY volunteer students, these group classes and personalized coaching sessions focus on cash and credit management for individuals in need, including partnerships with community non-profits and the Lubbock County Detention Center. Students operate out of the Charles Schwab Foundation Personal Financial Planning Clinic, a welcoming, off-campus community space.

To ensure expertise in guiding individuals toward financial well-being, KEY students not only undergo comprehensive training in specific personal financial planning coursework, but also have the opportunity to obtain the Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®) designation.

The AFC® designation is an industry-standard certification which signifies that our student volunteers are professionals in their craft and possess the necessary knowledge and experience to meet individuals and families where they are, assist them in establishing a solid financial foundation, achieve their goals and attain lasting financial well-being. The total cost of this designation is $550.00 to cover the course, educational materials and a certification examination.

Funds raised for this project will contribute to offsetting the cost of earning AFC® designation for KEY students. By supporting our project today, you are helping the KEY program continue to provide the highest quality services to the Lubbock community and help move us toward our goal of broadening our outreach to serve more organizations and individuals.
