Support Outdoor & Adventure Media
CHALLENGE: For every $1 raised for the Outdoor and Adventure Media program during Day of Giving, Dr. Jerod Foster has pledged to bike 1 mile, up to 5,000 miles, over the next year!
The Outdoor and Adventure Media Fund is a funding program established to elevate immersive learning experiences in the College of Media & Communication that focus on media production and leadership development in fields related to outdoor conservation, science communication, travel/tourism, and recreation.
Funding associated with this project contributes to purchasing resources and offsetting costs associated with field-based, hands-on courses that students participate in. Courses that benefit from this funding project include the award-winning Adventure Media course, the Junction Field Photography and Interactive Media program, other study away opportunities such as Summer 2022’s Great Plains Travel Documentary program, and future coursework dedicated to environmental and cultural sustainability offered through the university’s Livable Futures initiative.
This fund is made available to course programming and special project opportunities that allow undergraduate and graduate students a more intimate experience in environments that cannot be approximated in the traditional classroom or university campus.
Funding for this project will reduce costs for students to participate in professionally driven, highly experiential field-based learning opportunities. This program helps offset costs associated with field-based coursework, helping diminish and sometimes eliminating financial barriers for students to consider and/or participate in these incredibly valuable opportunities.
