The School of Music at Texas A&M University-Kingsville provides students with exceptional opportunities to grow as performers, educators, recording professionals, and leaders in the arts. Through nationally and regionally recognized performance ensembles, innovative academic programs, and hands-on learning experiences, students develop the skills, creativity, and confidence needed to thrive in today's music industry.

Support from the Javelina Music Association (JMA) helps students perform, compete, and learn on regional and national stages. From the Jazz Education Network Conference and the National Trumpet Competition to the South Central Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference and the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic and Convention, students gain invaluable experiences through performances, masterclasses, professional networking, and competition.
"Going to New Orleans changed my life. I had a great time in the city where jazz was born and learning more about it. I now have a greater appreciation for jazz, and I'm eager to learn more. I feel incredibly fortunate for this opportunity."
"I found my experience at SCRTEC extremely valuable. I had the opportunity to network, learn from new teachers, and hear high-level musicianship that is essential to music students' growth."

Beyond the concert stage, students prepare for a wide variety of careers. Future music educators develop the knowledge and practical experience to inspire the next generation of musicians in classrooms throughout Texas and beyond. Sound Recording Technology students receive hands-on training with industry-standard equipment, preparing them for careers in audio production, recording, and sound engineering. The Pride of South Texas Marching Band fosters school spirit, leadership, and musical excellence while representing the university at athletic and community events. Through Mariachi performance and education, students preserve and celebrate the rich musical traditions of South Texas while sharing this vibrant cultural heritage with audiences across the region.
