Every First-Generation Student Has a Story. You Can Help Write the Next Chapter!
More than half of Texas A&M University–Kingsville students are the first in their families to earn a college degree. For many, coming to college represents more than pursuing an education; it is breaking generational barriers, creating new opportunities for their families, and becoming role models for future generations.
Texas A&M University-Kingsville’s First-Generation Initiatives exist so that no first-generation student has to navigate that journey alone.

Why First-Generation Initiatives matter
Texas A&M University–Kingsville's first-generation student initiatives are dedicated to helping first-generation students feel that they belong, connect with campus resources, develop as leaders, and graduate prepared for successful careers and meaningful lives.
Through intentional programming, mentoring, leadership development, family engagement, and community building, these opportunities help students build the confidence, skills, and support networks they need to thrive.

Your Gift Creates Opportunities
Your generosity helps create experiences that many first-generation students might otherwise never have. Your donation can help support:
- TAMUK’s First-To-Go program initiatives.
- Leadership development programs that build confidence and prepare students to lead on campus and beyond.
- Mentoring opportunities that connect students with faculty, staff, alumni, and professionals who can guide them through college and career decisions.
- The First-Generation Student Organization, where students build friendships, develop leadership skills, and create a supportive community.
- First-Generation Week events that celebrate student success, connect families to the university, and increase campus awareness.
- Professional development experiences, including networking events, etiquette dinners, career readiness workshops, and leadership training.
- Student recognition programs that celebrate the accomplishments and resilience of first-generation graduates.
- Educational resources and programming that help students navigate the "hidden curriculum" of college and access opportunities that contribute to long-term success.
