More than half of Texas A&M University–Kingsville students are the first in their families to earn a college degree. For many, coming to college represents more than pursuing an education; it is breaking generational barriers, creating new opportunities for their families, and becoming role models for future generations.

Texas A&M University-Kingsville’s First-Generation Initiatives exist so that no first-generation student has to navigate that journey alone.

Why First-Generation Initiatives matter

Texas A&M University–Kingsville's first-generation student initiatives are dedicated to helping first-generation students feel that they belong, connect with campus resources, develop as leaders, and graduate prepared for successful careers and meaningful lives.

Through intentional programming, mentoring, leadership development, family engagement, and community building, these opportunities help students build the confidence, skills, and support networks they need to thrive.

Create a Match!

We dare you! Encourage your network to join you in making a gift! You can match gifts dollar for dollar up to a fixed amount and even structure your challenge to be based on donor participation.
