A Legacy of Excellence
As the oldest institution of higher education in South Texas, Texas A&M University-Kingsville traces its roots to South Texas State Normal College, founded in 1917, and later South Texas State Teachers College in 1925. More than a century later, the College of Education and Human Performance carries that legacy forward by preparing professionals who educate, lead, serve, and strengthen communities across South Texas and beyond.
Today, the college offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs spanning education, counseling, kinesiology, and human performance. Through hands-on learning, innovative instruction, and practical experiences, students develop knowledge and skills to make a meaningful impact in their professions. Early childhood education students gain valuable experience through the Marc Cisneros Center for Young Children, while doctoral students can pursue a Doctor of Education in Bilingual Education — the first of its kind in the nation — or a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership. Offered fully online, both doctoral programs provide working professionals with the flexibility to advance their education while continuing careers.
Texas A&M University-Kingsville played a major role in shaping both my professional and personal journey. The education, relationships, and experiences I gained there gave me a strong foundation that has continued to influence my career. I'm especially grateful for the professors, mentors, and opportunities that challenged me to grow and prepared me for the next steps in my career.
