Stony Brook Student Nurses’ Association (SBSNA) is the official school chapter constituent of the National Student Nurses’ Association and was established in 2013.
As leaders in our community, our mission is to transition student nurses into the professional role of nursing, promote cohesion and education within the current nursing cohorts, and, arguably most importantly, enhance the image of nursing in our community through our philanthropic efforts.
For the past nine years, SBSNA has been selected to attend and has won multiple awards at the national and state level association conferences and competitions. These events provide not only an invaluable learning experience but also a chance for Stony Brook to showcase the strength and dynamism of our students. Through creating resolutions, both in opposition and collaboration with other nursing schools, we consistently demonstrate the excellence cultivated at Stony Brook School of Nursing. This academic year’s national conference is in Seattle, WA in Spring 2025.
Attending conventions comes at a significant cost, and we are raising funds to cover the costs for tickets, travel, and accommodations to lift financial burdens off our student nurses and their notable accomplishments. Any additional funds above and beyond our goal will go towards SBSNA’s volunteering and community engagement efforts including donation drives as well as recruiting guest speakers from the nursing and healthcare professions to enrich our students' educational experience.
