Gifts to WUSB Radio — Where Decades of Sound Shape the Voices of Tomorrow contribute to...
When you support our noncommercial radio station, you’re investing in education, culture and community, and harnessing the true power of partnership. Your generosity empowers students, uplifts local artists and keeps independent media thriving. You help preserve a vital resource that educates, informs and entertains — all while championing creativity, independence and social responsibility.
In recent years, public radio stations across the country have faced shrinking grant opportunities and growing competition for philanthropic support. Independent outlets like WUSB feel this shift acutely. Yet our mission remains unchanged: to serve as a trusted, community‑rooted voice that amplifies stories, sparks curiosity and connects people across Long Island and beyond. Your support ensures that this work not only continues, but grows stronger.
Let’s work together to make a lasting impact. With your help, we can continue to inspire future generations, strengthen our community and ensure that noncommercial radio remains a vital force for good.
For nearly 49 years, WUSB 90.1‑FM has shared music for the mind and stories for the times, serving Stony Brook University and the surrounding Long Island community. We provide essential public service announcements and emergency alerts — the news and information that benefit you, our listeners.
Because of you, WUSB has brought new music and timeless classics to the airwaves, shared Seawolves sports and special-interest podcasts and elevated voices with important, inspiring and informative stories. We’ve helped fill blood banks, celebrated our public libraries and connected listeners to farmers’ markets, healthy living resources and advocacy services — all while keeping you entertained through our broadcast and streaming platforms.
Your impact enables us to:
- Train hundreds of students preparing to enter the workforce.
- Obtain critical broadcasting equipment and maintain multiple frequencies to ensure 24/7 access.
- Provide career, internship and volunteer opportunities for university and community members.
- Broadcast live music from across Long Island and beyond — from the Staller Center and the Jazz Loft to museums, vineyards, nightclubs, waterfronts and more.
This experiment, which began in 1977, remains a force because of your support. And as we approach our 50th anniversary in 2027, we’re preparing to celebrate five decades of independent sound — and to build the next chapter of WUSB’s story together.
