Gifts to Institute for Ocean Conservation Science contribute to...
The Institute for Ocean Conservation Science at Stony Brook University was founded in 2003 with the mission to save the ocean through science. For over two decades, we have been at the forefront of scientific research and have led projects that have achieved global policy impact.
We’ve used cutting-edge research to track and understand marine life, from nearby Shinnecock Bay, New York, to the atolls of Belize and the waters of the Caspian Sea. Our work has led to better management of species including sturgeon, sharks and forage fish. We have advised world leaders at the United Nations on how to conserve their precious ocean resources through marine protected areas, and most recently, we pioneered a new way of surveying biodiversity using climate-friendly, noise-free autonomous technology.
Our established track record, unwavering dedication to mission and vision for the future position us as a leader in ocean science and conservation for the next decade and beyond.
