Center for Inclusive Education

A diversity of perspectives and ideas is critical for the advancement of knowledge and scientific innovation. Established in 2002, the Center for Inclusive Education (CIE) has worked to create and promote an environment that fosters diversity and inclusion at the highest levels of research and scholarship — advancing diversity in graduate education, academia and the scientific workforce.

The CIE works to recruit, retain and graduate underrepresented minority and otherwise disadvantaged scholars, as well as those scholars who advance the mission of increasing the diversity of their respective fields. To ensure the success of our scholars, we provide financial assistance, social support and advocacy, as well as promote academic and professional development — and a strong sense of community — through our signature core activities:

• Faculty and Nonfaculty Career Pathway Programming
• Keeping It Real Discussion Groups
• College Teaching Journal Club and Seminar Series
• Grant Writing Workshops
• Community of Student Mentors Program

Given the unpredictable nature of federal funding at this time, the CIE is expanding outreach efforts to ensure the financial stability needed to provide ongoing support to current scholars, ensuring their successful progression and completion of their degree program/postdoctoral training. Your donation to the CIE fund will directly impact our scholars by providing research grant awards, conference travel support, emergency funding and professional development opportunities.
