The Legacy Scholarship Challenge
The Legacy Scholarship Challenge is a first-of-its-kind alumni fundraising competition designed to celebrate our history while securing our future. We are calling on every writer who has ever graced Chancellor's Hall or found inspiration on Cooper’s Beach to look back at the year they first joined us.
This isn’t just a donation drive — it’s a battle of the years to see which Conference Class holds the title of the most generous and committed cohort in conference history.
The Competition: Who Will Lead the Pack?
The challenge is simple: Alumni compete by the year of their initial Conference attendance.
The Goal: To see which year can raise the highest total amount of funds.
- The Tracking: Our live leaderboard will update in real time, showing which years are currently leading the charge. Whether you were first to attend in 1985 or 2025, every dollar counts toward your year’s total.
- Bragging Rights: The winning year will be honored at the upcoming conference.
The Mission: Supporting Scholarships
The proceeds from this competition go directly to the Southampton Writers Conference Scholarship Fund.
Writing can be a lonely and expensive endeavor. These scholarships are vital for ensuring that financial barriers don’t stand in the way of brilliant writers.
How to Participate
- Donate: Visit our secure donation portal. Make your generous donation.
- On the second page under Donor Affiliation check the "Alumnus/a" box and pick your "Class Year" and choose your Initial Conference Year from the dropdown menu. Click Continue.
- Rally Your Cohort: Reach out to your old conference peers! Share your favorite memories and encourage them to help your year climb the leaderboard.
- Share the Story: Use the hashtag #SouthamptonWritersLegacy to share why you support the conference.
