Stony Brook Crew

Stony Brook Crew aims to provide a competitive rowing program that promotes hard work, strong character and a healthy lifestyle for the Stony Brook University student body. We are dedicated to creating a community that is welcoming and supportive to experienced rowers and those who wish to learn the sport. Over the past few years, we’ve purchased new shells, cleaned up our boat racks, repainted our oars, fixed broken shells and copiously documented our processes to provide future Stony Brook rowers with the tools to keep the incredible momentum we strive so much in pursuit of. We compete in regattas throughout New York, New England and the Mid-Atlantic.

Our fundraising efforts this year are an addition to the trailblazing work that began last year. Last year, we raised over $7,000 for a new shell, which has now been named by alumni and is being used by the team this fall.

This year we’re looking to keep the momentum as we’re in need of oar refurbishments, a larger shed for all of our new equipment additions and fixes, and extra funds to go back through our antiquated shells and ensure that they’re supplied with new hardware (bolts, nuts, shoes, footstretchers, etc.) so that novices walk into a club better than before and so that returners can leave us better even than they found us!
