Stevenson's ACHA Hockey Program was founded in August 2017 and is part of a larger vision to be a premier hockey program in the Mid-Atlantic for both NCAA and ACHA players. Starting with just eight committed skaters and two goalies the program played it's inaugural year so that they could recruit to build the program. With one win over Towson, the program improved the following season, gaining more players and winning ten games.
Like their NCAA counterparts the ACHA team has a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Munich, Germany over Thanksgiving break to play hockey.
We are looking to raise funds through donations and sponsorships to help pay for the associated travel expenses.
As student-athletes this trip will be a valuable experience both culturally and academically. We will visit such historical venues as Dachau, Germany home of The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, Innsbruck Austria, site of 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics and the South Tyrol region of Northern Italy. We are also scheduled to compete against local amateur and minor professional teams. This trip will be an excellent exposure opportunity for those interested in pursuing European hockey as a career after college. Per achahockey.org the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) began as a men's collegiate hockey organization and was established on April 20, 1991. The league now has over 500 men's and women's collegiate hockey teams. There are three men's divisions and 2 women's divisions. Our program competes in the ACHA Division II Southeast Region in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Conference (MACH).
