The spring semester is not what we anticipated and during these uncertain times, it is important to remember our Catholic identity and the importance of community within the Marianist charism. COVID-19 has disrupted millions of lives across the world, including those of our students. In times of calm and crisis, Rattlers help Rattlers, and it will take a unified effort – students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends – to help us continue moving forward.
Right now, many students are still struggling to get back home, planning for lost wages, and still trying to focus on the academic demands of the end of the semester. Join St. Mary’s efforts to assist students who have an immediate need with a gift to the Student Emergency Fund.
Gifts to the Student Emergency Fund provide financial assistance to our students to help them overcome the disruptions created by the coronavirus. With your help, students will gain back some peace of mind as they continue their courses and prepare for finals. Your gifts of any size will help support students’ urgent needs.

In mid-March, St. Mary’s University launched the Rattlers Helping Rattlers campaign to support the Student Emergency Fund, in response to COVID-19. The Student Emergency Fund has helped 175 students so far with short-term but critical financial needs – family job loss, lost part-time wages, and unexpected moving expenses. Thank you for your overwhelming response.

Earlier this month, we reached our initial goal of $50,000 --- THANK YOU! Because of the 304 donors who have made a gift so far, we have been able to provide assistance to 139 students, including 20 law students. Your gifts have helped our students cover the difference in rent, pay utilities, supply internet to continue online learning, provide food resources for those who have lost jobs and so much more. You have shown our students that the St. Mary’s community is behind them. Many of our students will rely on the Student Emergency Fund now and in the future. St. Mary’s is committed to helping as many students as possible. Our goal has increased to $65,000, and with the support of our alumni and the St. Mary’s community, we are confident we can meet our new goal.
If you are not able to give to Rattlers Helping Rattlers at this time, that’s okay. This is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone, and you and your family come first.
