Here We Go Saints 2023

It’s a historic weekend here, with 2,877 donors setting a new “Here We Go Saints Challenge” record! Thank you so much to the supporters for making 35 hours fly by while having fun and generating over $488,000 for Saints student-athletes. This impact is profound, and every Laurentian should be proud of this accomplishment.

Another BIG round of applause and fist-bumps for Barry '69 and Pat Phelps '69, P'96 for being generous challengers, and to all of our advocates who generated clicks and support through their Saintly networks.

After final tabulations, we are excited to share the top-5 teams in our "Saintly Rewards," and offer the blue ribbon to Coach Drueding and the Riding team, who know a little something about going back-to-back! They’re once again “Best in Show” and earned $7,500 worth of “Saintly Rewards” for their efforts having also won the “Scarlet & Brown Alumni Sprint!”

Rowing raced its way to 2^nd place once again, while Softball stole 3^rd ahead of Men’s Basketball. Meanwhile, Women’s Hockey scored late to fend off their field counterparts for the final spot on the podium.

Congratulations also go out to the Saints Tennis program, which won the first ever “Most Improved Team Award” based on alumni donor growth from 2022. Women’s Golf and Volleyball rounded out the top-3 earners in that category. Congratulations, all!

The Victory Bell and Appleton Siren are sounding with this record-breaking effort. Thank you again for your support, and for the last time during the 2023 edition…

An anonymous donor has generously stepped forward to create an alumni-only challenge running from 4-5 p.m. ET. We’re excited to introduce the Scarlet & Brown Alumni Sprint! The three teams who receive the highest total number of gifts from new alumni donors* during these 60 minutes will receive bonus bucks for their program!

We know the weekend creates hurdles for donors, so be sure to relay the word about the Alumni Sprint to teammates. A total of $5,000 is on the line, so new alumni donors, throw your name on the donor roll now! It’ll make you feel like a New-man.

The Saints Rowing program knows a thing or two about rising before the sun and rowing through the 2K mark in a Nick of time! That’s exactly what our donors did today, as the Phelps Challenge Part II has been achieved, unlocking $20,000 for Saints Athletics. Regardless of Geo-graphy, donors have made our student-athletes a priority with gifts coming from 42 states and nine countries (Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, and South Africa).

On behalf of a grateful Laurentian Community including all connected to Saints Athletics, thank you to Barry '69 and Pat Hitchcock Phelps '69, P'96 for their loyal support. For the third consecutive year, their creativity and generosity helped generate philanthropy and pride for the Scarlet and Brown.

But the Phelpses know we’re FAR from today’s finish line, Saints. "Saintly Rewards" await the Top-5 overall teams based on donor participation, and the “Most Improved Team Award” for alumni donors for the Top-3 when the challenge ends at 7 p.m. ET.

Wells…Wells…Wells…What a performance at Appleton Arena today, as the Saints women’s hockey team tamed the Princeton Tigers, 7-2. The victory was the icing on the cake for Here We Go Saints Challenge Day One, as over 1,800 Laurentians helped slash our goals and light the lamp. 

We could use an assist to get to 2,000 donors and close out the Phelps Challenge Part II, but thanks to our supporters, it doesn’t seem like we need a miracle!

Donors are set on supporting the Scarlet and Brown today! With 1,000 donors, the Phelps Challenge has been “met at the net” in record time. Fist bump to Barry and Pat for their continued generous support of St. Lawrence student-athletes. 

We hope you’re digging our messages and aren’t blocking us out, because we need your help to keep killing it!

It’s aces this morning, as the Laurentian Community is clearly love all for the Saints (and that isn’t a backhanded compliment)!

It’s a blue ribbon start from our supporters as well as our reining champs, the Saints Riding team! With over 300 donors saddled up so far, the Phelps Challenge has already stirrup’d $15,000.

 It’s a Mary day at the Barn, but a long way before trotting to the ribbon ceremony. Gallop on!

Starting at 8 a.m. ET on Friday, October 27, we have 35 hours to support St. Lawrence University student-athletes and wave the Scarlet and Brown with pride. Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends unite, with gifts of all sizes counting towards both "The Phelps Challenge" and "Saintly Rewards." 

OY! During warm-ups, 200+ donors have already made an impact and logged $10,000 for Saints Athletics. But it’s not how you start…it’s how you finish!
