Join us on January 24, 2025 for our sixth 1 Day for the Knights. One Day is the SFS version of #GivingTuesday commemorating St. Francis de Sales Feast Day. Over the past five years SFS has raised over $750,000 for the 1 Day. campaign This year we are asking each class to raise double their graduation year. (ex: $1992+1992= $3984) some classes are already off to a good start. If every class hits the goal we will have raised $1,000,000 for 1 Day in just six years!
Bonus win-win situation this year for Ohio Residents: If you live in Ohio or pay Ohio taxes, St. Francis de Sales is now a state-verified Scholarship Granting Organization or SGO. This allows donors to receive a dollar-for-dollar state of Ohio tax credit up to $1500 (filing jointly). Your donation will be used for 1 Day and you can apply it once towards your 2024 or 2025 State of Ohio taxes. WIN-WIN! If you have any questions please email me at dzawisza@sfsknights.org (Ohio Revised Code 5747.73)
Last year we raised over $ 200,000 and with 650+ donors. We also saw Knights from every class from 1958-2022 help our current and future Knights. The Class of 1975 won the Dick Mattingly "Ratch Cup" for raising the most money among all classes. The Sue Conrad Certificate of Excellence will be given to the class with the most participants **New Award** - Dick Cromwell Comeback Award:for the class the most improved participation
We are asking for your help this year by:
- Make your gift today to 1 Day for the Knights
- Spread the word through social media via X (the artist formally known as Twitter), Facebook TikTok SnapChat and Instagram.
- Contact your fellow Knights directly and ask them to help
Please help us achieve our philanthropic goals.. Your gift will help provide a transformative experience for many young men as they develop leadership skills, while receiving an education in the spirit of our Patron Saint, St. Francis de Sales.
St. Francis de Sales…Pray for us.
Well that ends 1 day 2025... wow what a finish!
Our fourth straight year of going over $150,000. This amount takes us to over $900,000 in six years of 1 day for the Knights!
Thank you to everyone in our Knight Family who helped us out this year. We will have the winners of the awards later this afternoon. We do allow for anything that was in the mail over the weekend to be counted towards the standings.
If anyone has any questions about the Tax Credit or anything related to 1 Day please feel free to reach out to me at dzawisza@sfsknights.org
Rest Brother Knights... well deserved
St. Francis De Sales... Pray for Us!

Ohio Taxpaying Knights: Here is a short video on how the state of Ohio Tax credit works. The video is 61 Seconds. If you donate now this WILL count for your 2024 taxes. This means ANY amount you do will count up $750 per individual and $1500 if you are filing jointly
61 Second video for the State of Ohio Tax Credit

Sue Conrad is a legend here at St. Francis. I have had the absolute privilege of working with her on the second Reverend Run and conversing with her whenever she was back on Bancroft Street. I have two memories that really stand out to me
1. One of my first days back at St. Francis I was in my office getting settled in and in came Sue. She had that smile and warmness about her as she entered. She came up to me and gave a big hug. She put her face against my ear and whispered "you have no idea what you getting into" then I got to hear that laugh. She was right.
2. As you know the most donors award is the Sue Conrad Certificate of Excellence. The first year the Class of 1990 won the award and we did a short video from her to the class. During the shoot I noticed she had her arm in a sling. Now 1 Day is in January so it can be icy here in NW Ohio. I asked "what happened" she quickly replied with a smirk "I was bringing back the garbage cans and fell". She was in her mid-80s at the time. Just a remarkable woman
This past year Sue passed and when I went to the service there were so many Knights there. She changed a lot of lives here including mine. I thank her for her service to our school and for all of her help with 1 Day.
St. Francis De Sales... Pray for us!

Just a reminder 1 Day officially closes at Noon. I also want to say that if you would like to donate with a check, cash or QCD (no bitcoin...this year) please email me at dzawisza@sfsknights.org and we will get the amount in ASAP
The race for everything is up for grabs. this is where you the sandbaggers and last minute donors jump in.
We will do a final correction and make sure we get the mail from the weekend.
Thank You! Over $130,000 and soon to go over 500 donors

Corrections have been made in the system for the Class Years so the scoreboard should (I'm stressing should) be up to date!
Closes at Noon tomorrow!
Thank You to everyone as we headed over $115,000 this morning!

Everyone is in the game now:
Forever First 1958 - 2024!
Thank you Roger '60

With the Class of 1976 checking into the game. we are down to just the class of 1960!
If anyone in our Knight network knows anyone from the class of 1960 who has not given in awhile or just wants to help out, please reach out to finish off our set!

We just went over $90,000. We need $10,000 to hit this goal.
You helped get this far and we could not have done it without each 1 of you.
The journey continues... for the Brotherhood!

Fr. O talks about the Oblate presence at the school past and present. He talks about how the early Oblates helped shape the culture here at the school. It is a great 5 minute history lesson with Fr. O

507 days ago by Daniel J ZawiszaI know... I know I too am part of the group that says "back in my day those steps were outside"
Wow that was fast. We basically doubled our total from this morning and a few classes are not even represented yet
SPAM ALERT - We are hearing from the field that some of these emails are ending up in SPAM. I just wanted to put that out there. Our Knights from '75 got caught in this trap. They sometimes can sandbag (past Champ) but this year was not the case. Sabotage? No, just the internet acting funny
First set of class corrections have been done with the Class of '71 benefiting. If you have them, please send them my way!
On the agenda this Afternoon & Evening we have a talk with Fr. O tonight, we also have a short video on the State of Ohio tax credit and we have part 2 of the Good Knight stories.

We had a good yesterday and a great morning today! We went just over $30k and we have seen almost half the classes represented. Today is the day to spread the word about 1 Day. Post on socials, call or text a friend.
Also let anyone know, that the tax credit is in play for your 2024 state of Ohio taxes! This is $1 for $1 state tax credit meaning it could cost you nothing out of pocket.
Let's go Big Red!

This is part 1 of an interview Gerk did for 1 Day. This year the guests are Josh & Jaime the new football coach and our AD/basketball coach. Fr. O makes a guest appearance

Fr. O talks about getting out the victory cigars again

508 days ago by Daniel J ZawiszaAs we head into the evening of 1 Day Eve we have had an outstanding start to this cause as we race for $20,000.
Quick Recap - 2003 still holding on to the most donors with 14. 1968 hanging on to the 2 spot. The Champs in striking distance with 5 along with 08s. My class '92 is tied with the year I was born 1973 for 5th.
For the Ratch Cup... 1994 has arrived taking over the top spot with just 2 donors. Champs are on this list to at even $2k with 2003 in a holding patter at $1750. Class of 1979 with $1500 and my Knights from '92 hanging onto 5th.
Tomorrow is the true 1 Day for the Knights. Gerk is back with his Good "Knight" stories which should be up this evening.
Get some sleep boys, tomorrow is Varsity 1 Day for the Knights!

It is Noon over here on Bancroft Street and our Knights are back after an extended break because of the cold... really is that right? Back in my day even the Senior Steps were outside. We should cross over the $ 7,000 as I am typing this update.
Over 25 of the 65 classes are represented. The class of 2003 is showing up! They have already surpassed their number from last year. Congrats Joel. You got the boys ready right out of the gate.
The champion Class of '83 is looking over the pack. The class of 1975 is gathering up the troops. Class of 1990 is planning on unleashing Operation Wicked Mongoose. I am not sure if it is a musical or an actual mongoose. Either way I am good with it. Mark and the Class of 1979 have been a top 5 the last few years. They are looking to make a move. Class of '94 came out of nowhere in 2024 and looking to build on their momentum from last year.
Remember this is about fun with the goal of helping current and future Knights
Good luck gentlemen (and the Class of 1993).
If anyone is missing their class year we can correct just email me at dzawisza@sfsknights.org and I usually do them in groups when things settle down. Next update 3 pm-ish
