The Student Emergency Fund is an allotment of money set aside in the event of an unexpected emergency for which a student may need financial help. This fund allows students to stay focused on their studies instead of diverting their attention to the unexpected expense.
Applications for one-time assistance are reviewed by a small staff committee to ensure funds are used appropriately and students are referred to other resources as applicable.
Examples of previous student emergencies include an airfare to see an ailing parent and assistance in covering the cost of required class materials.
