Class of 1986

The Spelman College Class of 1986 will celebrate our 40th Class Reunion in May 2026: “Still we rise! Grace carries us. Purpose leads us!” Our elders would say, “come hell or high water,” and indeed this year has brought unimaginable lows and undeniable highs. Yet, through every season, the standards and honor of Spelman women continue to shine as beacons for our sisters, and for women and communities around the world.

We remain UNDAUNTED—steadfast and strong. Or, if we choose a new call for this milestone:

• UNSTOPPABLE – honoring the power and persistence of Spelman women.
• UNSHAKEN – celebrating our steady faith and unbreakable sisterhood.
• ELEVATED – reflecting growth, triumph, and rising to every challenge.
• FORTIFIED – emphasizing the strength and wisdom gained over 40 years.

Our Purpose

Reunion activities will take place May 13 – 17, 2026. This year Reunion will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center and on Spelman’s campus. Registration opens October 15, and a payment plan will be available this year. The Class of 1986 Reunion Planning Team is working to share reunion information, receive input from our classmates and generate excitement as we plan class activities, in tandem with the Office of Alumnae Engagement. The vision is to provide meaningful opportunities for our class to engage with one another and experience Spelman, from wherever we find ourselves. We need your input and participation!

We also want to offer our financial gifts as a testament to our belief in the Spelman experience and to help safeguard Spelman students from the financial devastation this pandemic is causing for many of them and their families.

Commit to a class gift level. Every gift counts – toward our goal to have 100% of our class make
a gift, toward our class gift total to be announced at the True Blue Gala, and toward our promise
to make the Spelman experience accessible to other women of African descent, regardless of
their zip code or country code. In honor of our 40th reunion, consider one of the following gift
levels:

o $40 a month (beginning Nov 2025 – Jun 2026) or as a one-time gift $320
o $400 a month (beginning Nov 2025 – Jun 2026) or as a one-time gift $3,200
o $4,000 as one-time gift or $500 a month (beginning Nov 2025 – Jun 2026)
o $40,000 over 5 years (pledge $8,000/year for 5 years and pay $1,000/month beginning
Nov 2025 – Jun 2026 and then $666.66/month beginning Jul 2026 – June 2031)
o Make a Legacy Gift: Make Spelman a beneficiary of your insurance policy or retirement
account, or transfer property or other tangible items of value
