Amy Keil Schmidt Early Lung Cancer Detection Program
Prior to her passing from lung cancer in 2025, Springfield attorney Amy Keil Schmidt became a passionate advocate for early detection and awareness.
The Amy Keil Schmidt Early Lung Cancer Detection Program honors her legacy by helping expand access to life-saving screenings, increasing awareness among high-risk populations, and supporting innovative approaches to detecting lung cancer earlier.
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, yet outcomes improve dramatically when the disease is detected early. Through Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU, this program helps connect individuals with screening opportunities, supports outreach and education efforts, and advances initiatives designed to improve early diagnosis and intervention.
Your gift helps bring these resources to more individuals and families throughout central and southern Illinois while continuing Amy's commitment to helping others recognize the importance of early detection.
Together, we can improve outcomes, expand access to care, and save lives through earlier detection of lung cancer.
