As one of the original colleges at SIU, the School of Education has been shaping the educators who make a difference in the world. In addition to being a leader in off-campus and online education, programs and initiatives in the school continually earn national recognition. Students enjoy the best of both worlds – strong academic programs combined with hands-on field experience in real work settings.
The School includes six programs – Child and Family Services, Early Childhood, Education Administration and Higher Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, and Workforce Education and Development. The School of Education also includes the Campus-Wide Teacher Education Program.
Our School hosts several centers providing crucial services to the community and giving our students vital hands-on training. Our external grant funding, increasing by more than 70 percent in the last five years, totals more than $20 million annually. That’s nearly one-third of the total for the entire University and it’s evidence of the impact we make.
