The SIU Alumni Association builds connections and opens doors for alumni and students who want a stronger bond with SIU. We are stewards of the Saluki spirit and your gateway to a community of more than 260,000 graduates. Based at the Guida-Moller Family Alumni Center in Woody Hall, the Association commits every day to show the world what you can accomplish with an SIU education. We love learning what experiences made SIU special for alumni and sharing them with future generations. You’re a Saluki for life, and we’ll always welcome you with Saluki pride!
For this SIU Day of Giving, the Association is asking donors to contribute to our efforts to endow scholarships that support students in strong SIU recruitment areas. We are also raising funds for the Student Leadership Fund which assists students with their professional development skills. Please see our giving opportunities and consider the impact your gift could have on our students.
Scholarship Endowments – Chicago, St. Louis, and Williamson County, IL
There are more than a dozen regional alumni groups and chapters across the state of Illinois and the country, with hundreds of alumni in each who gather regularly to share their Saluki spirit and raise money for local high school students to attend SIU Carbondale. This year, the Association has a goal of endowing regional scholarships for Chicago, St. Louis, and Williamson County in Southern Illinois.
Chicago is home to more than 40,000 Saluki alumni and serves as a major recruitment hub for incoming SIU students. The greater St. Louis region has more than 20,000 alumni with an active alumni group raising funds to send more local students to Carbondale. Williamson County is one of the most populous counties in Southern Illinois and neighbors Jackson County, where SIU Carbondale is located. If endowed, Williamson County would join Jackson and Union counties as regions with a stable scholarship fund for students who want to explore their educational opportunities at SIU. The goal for endowment in each fund is $25,000.
Consider donating to one or more of these scholarship funds, and you will be helping keep the pipeline open for future generations of students to become proud Salukis.

Student Leadership Development Fund
The Association has created an endowed fund to serve as a resource for the Student Alumni Council – the Association’s Registered Student Organization. Through it, members have the opportunity to receive financial aid for professional and leadership development training. Students may access these funds to participate in many conferences and workshops focused on networking with other future leaders. These opportunities will further enhance the already stellar education they are receiving as Salukis.
The fund also helps the Association bring enlightening and engaging speakers to campus. This year, we’re proud to host 1990 alumna Cheryl Mitchell, a professional speaker, executive coach, and podcaster, who will present a workshop with students and student leaders across campus to make them better communicators and collaborators with multiple generations of colleagues.
Consider donating to this fund, and you will help propel our outstanding students forward among many other student leaders across the nation.
