About

Saluki Belonging Fund

Support Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at SIU.
The Office of Anti-racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI) is dedicated to fostering an environment where every student and staff member can bring their authentic selves to campus, contribute their unique perspectives, and thrive.
Why Your Gift Matters
Philanthropy provides essential resources and programming that open doors and create a more welcoming campus. Your generosity ensures that we can provide the support needed to help our students succeed and our entire community flourish. Your gift isn't just a donation; it's an investment in a future where belonging is a reality for everyone at SIU.
Where Your Gift Goes
Your support will directly benefit the Saluki Belonging Fund. This new fund provides critical resources to ensure every member of our Saluki family feels at home. Your contribution will help us:

  • Gap Funding: Help students overcome financial hurdles that threaten their education. Your donation ensures they can cover essential costs like housing, books, and food, so they stay enrolled and thrive.
  • Create Inclusive Spaces: Support the Student Multicultural Resource Center and other initiatives that foster intercultural understanding and social justice awareness. Your gift helps expand programming, events, and safe spaces for all students.
  • Cultivate Leadership and Growth: Fund leadership, professional development, and study abroad opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, building a network of advocates for a more inclusive community.
  • Recognition and Celebration: We proudly host annual celebrations and recognition events to honor alumni, students, faculty, and staff who go above and beyond to make SIU a welcoming home for all. These events spotlight the voices, stories, and contributions that shape our inclusive campus culture.

Join Us in Making a Difference
By making a gift today, you are directly helping to build a campus where every Saluki feels a sense of belonging. Your support is a powerful tool for social change, creating a more welcoming and equitable community for all.

The Student Multicultural Resource Center (SMRC) aims to advance a welcoming and inclusive learning environment, where individuals with diverse identities are valued and celebrated, fostering a sense of belonging and community among all members of SIU Carbondale.

The SMRC provides a space dedicated to the well-being and success of all our community members. Our work is rooted in social justice, anti-racism, equity, inclusivity, identity, and intersectionality. We recognize and acknowledge the histories of marginalization various communities face; therefore, we work to support students through educational programming that brings awareness, fosters understanding, builds scholarship, and eradicates systemic barriers.

There are four centers below that donors may support as well as the Women's Leadership Council and Undocumented/DACA Student Support Space. Click on any of these below for more information and to support any of them.
