Southern’s History Department’s faculty members are committed teachers and nationally-recognized researchers whose broad expertise will help you gain an understanding of American, European, and non-Western history. History students learn how to analyze complex -- sometimes contradictory -- evidence, to recognize bias in both contemporary and historical sources, and to understand how history is constructed.
The History Student Experience Fund provides stipends for history students doing internships, and other real-world learning opportunities. This is a huge value added for our students that will pay dividends to students in their careers. This fund helps more students get paid internships. This creates more successful historians who can create change for the better in our communities.

A Power Hour is an exciting, high energy challenge where donors compete to raise the most gifts in one hour for their favorite funds.
Each Power Hour has two winners - one from athletics and one from the rest of campus. The fund with the most unique donors during the designated hour will receive a bonus. Plan your donations and rally your colleagues and friends to win a bonus. Winners are announced on social media and on this page!
