Southern is a social justice university built on the pillars of dignity, respect, kindness, compassion, and civility.
Together we are ONE Southern, and we will work together to assure every student receives an exceptional education and the support they need.

The Green Fund supports Southern students taking action for climate, sustainability, and healthy communities. In the past 9 years, more than 70 interns have worked at Southern leading food recovery, the campus garden, composting at Conn Hall, tracking the university's carbon footprint, and revitalizing local parks. So much more to do, and we're ready to grow with your help! Thank-you, Donors!

Because of past donor support for Southern's Green Fund, there are more than 70 sustainability intern alumni creating change in communities and their careers! Thank-you for making a difference!
The Green Fund is designated "Highest Priority" during the Day of Caring. We're hoping you will help!

Sydney King, Class of '22, Food Recovery Manager
The Green Fund supports sustainability internships for students in any major. Sustainability intern alumni are earning PhDs at Texas A+M, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Penn State. Masters candidates have attended Salem State, Tufts, Missouri State, Southern, and abroad. Other alumni have gone on to work at Aquarion, Quantum Biopower, DEEP, DSD Renewables, Sustainable CT, BIG Y Environmental Health and Safety, the Peace Corps, Red Cross, and opened their own businesses.
The Office of Sustainability cannot operate without interns! We depend on their creativity, dedication, and desire to create change for a better world. Sustainability interns lead food recovery and the campus community garden and have donated more than 70,000 meals locally. Interns manage two campus reuse stores, conduct waste audits, maintain social media, track campus greenhouse gas emissions, started a textbook donation program, and much more. If you are willing to donate, here's how:
- Select "Give Now" on the ONESouthern Day of Caring main page or "Highest Priority" field.
- Select "Campus Green Fund" in the Designation dropdown field.
Thank you for your support!

Thank you to Southern's Alumni Association for their gracious matching gifts to Southern's Day of Caring! The board has unlocked $5,000 in matching gifts to the Southern Scholarship Fund, which helps current students in need of additional financial aid earn their degree!
Additionally, the Alumni Association has unlocked $5,000 in matching gift money for the Support Our Students (SOS) Fund, $6,000 for the AAA Fund - both of which help students who face unforeseen financial hardships.
Thank you for your generosity!
**Students who need further financial assistance are encouraged to reach out to the Dean of Students Office at (203) 392-5556 or email at deanofstudents@southernct.edu.
