Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library Fund: Buley Library supports and enhances the teaching, learning, scholarship, and research mission of the University. We have collections that support all academic programs, spaces for students to work together or have quiet study areas, and a growing Special Collections and Archives division. We are a place for experiential education – our students learn together in our study spaces, through library internships, by conducting research and writing, by designing exhibits, making personalized books through our Artists Book program, and creating in the Makerspace.

Our newest initiatives include:

• Our Reserves Collection holds a copy of every course required textbook and is available to all students for temporary loan
• The Makerspace provides 3D design, 3D printing, a Cricut precision cutter, crafting, sewing, a green screen for video/ film production and other creative experiences in support of student initiatives and projects
• Programming! Current event watch parties, lectures, exhibits, workshops on research skills and AI education
• Our growing Archives and Special Collections division which provides unique learning experiences to classes using historical materials and the Artists’ Book Collection, documents the history and growth of SCSU since its origin to today, is the home of the New Haven Mayoral Papers collection, and more.
