Autism Center

The Autism Center Fund supports Southern’s Center of Excellence on Autism Spectrum Disorders, which serves and maintains school-based personnel educating children and youth with an autism spectrum disorder living in Connecticut and beyond. Southern’s Center of Excellence on Autism Spectrum Disorders consists of three divisions: Training, Research, and Direct Services. Through research, education, and partnerships, the center’s mission is to build capacity in our schools, higher education institutions, vocational settings, and broader communities to enhance the outcomes of individuals with autism spectrum disorders of all ages.

With your support CEASD will be able to expand upon its numerous training and service programs. Our College Connections and Traffic Stop Practice programs directly serve autistic individuals by providing them with skills and resources that will allow them to succeed in higher education institutions and their local communities. The center’s Brown Bag Lunch Discussion series provided further autism awareness by allowing participants to learn about autism spectrum disorders through the examination of autistic representation in modern day media. Your support would also assist in the relaunching of our First Responder Autism Training program for EMS professionals which teaches first responders how to sensitively and effectively assist autistic individuals. Your generosity will allow CEASD to further develop our programs to reach even more families and communities throughout Connecticut.
