The Bulldog Chapel Fund is a special initiative led by First Lady Agatha Y. Conyers to establish a dedicated spiritual and wellness space on the campus of South Carolina State University. More than just a building, the chapel will serve as a sacred place for students, faculty, alumni, and the broader SC State community to gather for prayer, reflection, inspiration, and celebration.
The vision for the Bulldog Chapel is inspired in part by the legacy of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 1170 Watson Street, Orangeburg, SC. Established in 1912 by Dr. Robert N. Perry, St. Paul’s holds the distinction of being the only African American Episcopal church in Orangeburg—serving as a historic symbol of faith, resilience, and community.
Across college campuses, chapels offer quiet refuge, emotional support, and moments of peace in the midst of academic and personal life. Your gift helps make this vision a reality—creating a space that nurtures the whole student: mind, body, and spirit.
