I.P. Stanback Museum & Planetarium

The IP Stanback Museum & Planetarium(The Stanback) is the only combination art museum and planetarium on a HBCU campus - and is one of few combination art museums and planetariums in the world.

The Stanback shares in the University's mission to prepare highly skilled, competent, and socially aware graduates and contribute to their growth and development. The Stanback's environment offers a newly remodeled eclectic vibe, staged for enjoyment of the arts, sciences, and edutainment in this single facility. The Stanback’s programs include aesthetic appreciation, historical and educational information, scientific and technological presentations encouraging the development of critical thinking and creative skills for its students and the community. Your gift helps preserve this cultural treasure and expands access to experiences that educate, engage, and empower.

Constructed in 1980, The Stanback routinely requires the purchase of materials, equipment, programming and consultants. Initially, the donations would be used to hire a consultant to render much needed training on repair and care of its vast collections of artifacts. Additionally, we intend to purchase archival resources, and additional planetarium resources.

Donations made to The Stanback will impact South Carolina State University students, K-12 students from the community and neighboring areas, to include Felton Laboratory students who utilizes the planetarium in its STEM curriculum, members of the community and travelers to this state.
