About

Your gift isn’t just a donation—it’s a lifeline. It helps us show up with the care, tools, and resources students need to stay in school, take care of their mental health, and believe in themselves again. At the Counseling & Self-Development Center, we’re often the first stop for students facing anxiety, trauma, or just trying to hold it together. When they walk through our doors, they’re not just looking for a therapist—they’re looking for hope, for safety, for someone to say, “You’re not alone."

When students feel seen, supported, and safe—they don’t just survive. They thrive. And that’s why we’re asking for your support.

The dollars raised will go directly toward strengthening mental health and wellness efforts across campus. Our platform has always centered on training and empowering everyone at SC State—students, faculty, and staff—to be mental health advocates.

Funds will support:

Mental Health First Aid and QPR trainings – evidence-based programs that teach people how to recognize the signs of mental health crises, respond appropriately, and refer peers to professional help. These trainings save lives and build a campus culture of care.

Expanded counseling services – by hiring additional licensed clinicians and support staff to meet increased student demand and reduce wait times.

Student wellness initiatives – including therapy kits, peer-led groups, mindfulness events, and campus-wide programming that makes mental wellness accessible, engaging, and culturally relevant.

Support for students with disabilities – such as accessible mental health tools, technology, and staff training to ensure equity in care.

Professional development for staff – so we can remain up-to-date on best practices in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and holistic student support.

In short, your gift helps ensure that every student has access to the support they need—and that our entire campus is equipped to care, respond, and uplift one another.
