THE HEART OF SMITH
POWER NEILSON LIBRARY: WHERE TEACHING, LEARNING AND COMMUNITY UNITE.
More than just a building, Neilson Library is where ideas take flight. This is why it is so critical that Neilson keep up with the needs and expectations of students and scholars today and in the future. We are in the midst of an extensive library renovation project led by acclaimed designer Maya Lin that will embody Smith's bold vision for the 21st century, creating new opportunities for intellectual exploration, innovation and discovery.
The Heart of Smith campaign invites 3,136 Smith alumnae, graduate alumni, parents, friends, faculty and staff to join this exciting project by donating during the month of June. Gifts will stretch far beyond new desks and bookshelves. They'll create a space that informs, inspires and unites us all.

WE DID IT!!
The final numbers have been tallied, and once again, Smithies have shown that they can accomplish great things. Not only did we beat our goal of 3,136 gifts, we surpassed it by 147 — finishing out the month with 3,283 gifts in June. As if that werenโt enough, we raised a whopping total of $1,423,808 as well!!
THANK YOU to everyone who participated, especially to those who made second or third gifts during the campaign. We couldnโt have done it without you.
For those who are interested, here is a breakdown of the top of the class leaderboard:
1. Ada Comstock Scholars: 135 gifts
2. 1968: 98 gifts
3. 1989: 94 gifts
4. 1980: 81 gifts
5. 1972: 80 gifts
In addition, 149 parents and 98 friends of the college participated in The Heart of Smith campaign.

While The Heart of Smith campaign has officially ended, staff at Smith will be busy tallying all of the year-end gifts for a few days. Thanks to all of you, we had a tremendous amount of gift activity, so it will take a bit to get caught up.
Please keep checking back—we will continue to update the campaign site as we work through the gift entry process. We anticipate that we will be able to announce our final totals in a week or so.
2992 days ago by Smith CollegeWe had a flurry of offline activity on Friday, June 17, the last day of our second Heart of Smith challenge. While we are still tallying the numbers, we are certain that we met this challenge. Thank you to all who participated in any way-- by making your gift, sharing the message or checking in to watch the totals climb.
Stay tuned for final figures...
3003 days ago by Smith CollegeOnce again, we asked and you delivered. This was a close one, but last night at 11:51 p.m. we met Joan Butler Ford's challenge and secured her $25,000 matching donation! Thank you to everyone who donated or shared our message—encouraging others to give. We truly couldn't have done it without you.
We're about a quarter of the way to our goal of 3,136 donors during the month of June. Please continue to spread the word about the Heart of Smith using the unique link that is provided for you under the 'Advocates' tab on the campaign page. There are even incentives if you reach certain Advocate thresholds (see the left sidebar for details). You might be surprised how quickly you can get to 10 donors or $500 in donations.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call The Smith Fund office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern at 1-800-241-2056, (option 1).
Thank you again for all your support. Onward to June 30!
