About

Today, April 10, is Smith Athletics 2025 Giving Day, a 24-hour competition to support Athletics.

You can contribute to a specific sport or give to the Friends of Athletics general fund. In order to support a specific sport please choose that sport in the drop down menu--otherwise your gift will be designated to the Friends of Athletics general fund. Whichever you choose, your gift will help provide Smith student-athletes with the resources necessary to compete at the highest level.

If you don't see your sport listed, please consider a gift to β€˜Friends of Athletics.’ Gifts to this fund will be used for performance equipment that multiple teams will utilize for training. Thank you for your support!

If you forgot to choose your specific sport, please email giftaccounting@smith.edu as soon as possible, and they will be sure to designate your gift correctly.

Remembering Coach Kim Bierwert

Smith College mourns the loss of former Head Swim and Dive Coach Kim Bierwert. After 40 years leading these programs, he became one of the most successful coaches in Smith Athletics history. His impact and legacy will not be forgotten.

Donations may be made in memory or honor of someone. Should you wish to do so, you can indicate this during your gift transaction.

A special message from Swimming & Diving: Give $10 today in Kim Bierwert’s memory! Kim went the extra mile for his swimmers and divers. Let’s go the extra mile to ensure his legacy lives on at Smith College. β€œThe longest race in competitive swimming is β€˜the swimmer’s mile’ (1500 meters). This is 30 laps in a 50 meter pool and 60 laps in a 25 yard pool. It is not an easy race. If you swam the mile under Kim’s expert coaching, you knew he would walk the length of the pool with you as you swam. Kim Bierwert passed away suddenly in February of 2025. As a community we are heartbroken. Kim went the extra mile for all of his athletes- the Smith College Wild Bunch, master’s teams, and the HRY Dolphins (Hampshire Regional YMCA). Our goal is to raise at least $1,500 today. We are asking 150 people to give at least $10 in Kim’s memory through Smith College Athletic Giving Day. If there is β€œmore toothpaste in your tube”, and you can give more than $10, please do. We are grateful for your gift in whatever amount. Our goal is to honor Kim’s memory and commitment to swimming at Smith and beyond. Please click the "GIVE NOW" button above, select β€œswimming and diving” from the drop down menu,   and be sure to note that your gift is in memory of Kim Bierwert.
