September 9, 1875, was the day 14 students, six professors, and a brand-new staff established a community of teaching and learning on Smith’s campus: the very first day of school for the very first Smithies.

On Tuesday, September 9th, the on campus community enjoyed a beautiful sunny day, celebrating the 150th with cupcakes and ice cream!
As part of the birthday party activities, the campus community was invited to sign a geothermal pipe that will be installed as part of Smith's innovative geothermal campus energy project that will reduce the colleges carbon emissions by 90%!
